Korean vs American Skincare

Here for Korean vs American skincare? The main differences between Korean and American skincare are the number of steps and the use of different skincare products. Most countries have been following the American way of skincare. However, the focus is shifting to Korean skincare due to its unique approach and effectiveness.

Korean skincare and makeup trends have taken the beauty world by storm. From techniques and products to the approach, Korean and American skincare differ from each other on many fronts.

Learn the differences in detail to better understand which skincare is better

Number of Steps

American skincare is pretty basic, cleaning, toning, and moisturizing. It is also known as CTM. It is not an excessive skincare regimen containing only a few steps. This simple skincare routine focuses on cleansing and getting rid of acne for clear, smooth skin. On the flip side, there is not much focus on wearing sun protection.

On the other hand, Korean skincare typically contains 5, 7, and 10 steps. It can be overwhelming and laborious for people new to skincare. Moreover, this excessive routine focuses on prevention and targets individual needs and skin concerns. Moreover, Koreans love glowing skin, hence, there are lots of moisturizing products and serums. Importantly, an SPF application is a must for Korean skincare.

Different Skincare Products

Unfortunately, American skincare is centered around, expensive big brands. One of the reasons why it is considered a luxury skincare. American beauty brands contain a lot of chemicals and only focus on treating the current skin problem. American cosmetics are not affordable to many.

In comparison, Korean beauty brands follow a different approach and make affordable and effective skincare products. In Korea, Skincare is not for the rich only. In fact, many brands launch affordable product ranges to make sure quality skincare is accessible to all.

Cleansing Routine

American skincare features a simple cleaning routine using a gel or cream-based cleanser. These cleansers are made from a variety of ingredients, both gentle and harsh.

Comparably, Koreans follow a double-cleansing routine. It involves cleansing the face with an oil-based cleanser first to get rid of oil-based impurities and grease. That’s not it, the next step is to use a foam-based cleanser to remove water-based impurities.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is not given due importance in American skincare. Generally, a beauty textured scrub is used once a week to remove dead skin cells.

In contrast, Korean skincare views exfoliation as an important step. Most Korean men and women perform gentle exfoliation daily using scrubs or peels.

Final Verdict

While Korean skincare definitely has an edge, it does not mean American beauty products are utterly useless. Both skincare routines have their pros and cons, it all comes down to personal preferences and what products suit your skin the most.
